Mnemosyne (pronounced "ne-mo-seen") is the Titan goddess, daughter of Earth and Sky, who gave birth to the nine Muses that inspire the various arts. The name means "memory", a mind full, and for us a mindful approach to creating. Looking and moving toward the future with an innate awareness of the past and its rich traditions. Mnemosyne is two women working together to create, using sustainable and repurposed materials, in a shared vision of a bright "now" for our earth and ourselves.
This company was founded on the turn of the twentieth century William Morris/John Ruskin idea of "joy to the maker, joy to the user". It is their belief that clothing can make you feel good--good about the way it is made by hand, good about the materials used, and good about the way it makes you feel when you wear it.
By supporting sustainable fabrics such as bamboo, hemp, organic cotton and tencel we create a greater demand for those products and all that is involved in their mindful production. At a grassroots level, each choice we make has the potential for creating great change. Demand mindful products and the supply will abound.
